Dental Tourism: Tips to follow
Tips to follow to ensure proper service.
Before the decision-making.
1. Start to think about the destination you choose. Please ask your family, your friends, your co-workers to see if some have experience of dental tourism.
2. Check on the Internet for blogs, forums and communities of patients online, where people describe their personal experiences in a specific country and/or with a particular dentist. You can take note of these warnings and bad experiences, but also note the positive description of some trips and recommendations of competent dentists.
3. Read comments from patients that are found on the websites of the dental clinics and specialized travel agencies. However, be careful. You will notice that these comments are always positive, and it is virtually impossible to verify their veracity. Caution : it is obviously advertising. But it remains quite interesting to visit these websites.
The country and the dentist selected
1. Verify that the chosen dentist is licensed by a professional certification body in his country. Ask their complaints department if the dentist has given rise to many complaints.
2. Consult the consulate of your country (or a friend country, if your country has no consulate there) in the country visited, if the dentist has given rise to many complaints.
3. There are some cities that have Chambers of Commerce and Tourist Offices compiling complaints about businesses and professionals.
The choice confirmed
1. Require a full examination (with x-rays) and discuss with the dentist's treatment plan and detailed financial estimate.
2. Make clear on the financial estimate the materials to be used. Ex : type of implant, type of ceramic and /or metal for crowns and bridges, type of filling material, quality of prosthetic teeth, etc..
3. Clarify the method of payment and the guarantees.
4. Clarify the number of visits necessaryand their duration. And, if necessary, the requirement of a second visit within 3 to 5 months to complete the installation of crowns on implants, for example.
